Apple Watch users can now download an Israeli app that analyses urine to detect chemicals and biomarkers in urine that are associated with over 600 illnesses. Individuals may use Olive WatchOS for free.

The technology developed by Olive Diagnostics is an AI-based real-time urine analysis device that mounts to any toilet and offers the world’s first optical equipment in the privacy at home or clinic.

When a person urinates normally in the toilet, the device detects biomarkers and alerts to the risk of illnesses such as dehydration and urinary tract infections. Clinical trials have previously established the accuracy of measuring substances such as albumin, red blood cells, nitrite, pH, specific gravity, and volume that are relevant to heart failure, kidney stones, and renal failure, among others.

The app is connected to Olive’s KG, which analyses molecules such as protein, ketone, and creatinine, as well as red blood cells, and other urine characteristics such as frequency, volume, pressure, and color. Following that, the app generates a health score based on the urine.

“Olive Diagnostics enables quick and early detection of conditions and diseases that could negatively impact the health of a person and place an unnecessary load on healthcare professionals,” said Guy Goldman, CEO of Olive Diagnostics. “We are now taking this a step further and simplifying how the how users interact with the toilet mounted sensor, and receive data relevant to them, as well as their care givers.”

According to the company, the data acquired is widely available and easier to consume, as exhibited in a user-friendly application.

Additionally, as a cloud-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) application, caregivers can download the service to precisely read the urinalyses of several KG device users for a monthly subscription of just €10.

The KG connects to an Apple Watch using a Bluetooth function provided in WatchOS8 as a user approaches the toilet where it is installed.

The medical practitioner can then view the volume urinated directly on their terminal and compare it to the user’s previous urinalysis data or a previously recorded medical average. All cloud-based data analysis is subject to GDPR and HIPPA-compliant privacy protection.
