Low-cost carrier, Wizz Air, is launching a new route between Tel Aviv and Timisoara, Romania’s third largest city and close to the borders with Hungary and Serbia.
Starting June 30, Wizz Air flights will fly twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays, between Ben Gurion Airport and Timisoara. One way tickets to Timisoara begin at NIS 179 (about $50).

The Hungarian carrier already flies to three other Romanian cities Bucharest, Craiova, and Cluj.
It also now offers flights to 18 destinations in nine countries from both airports: Ben Gurion Airport and Ovda, near Eilat.
The company starts operating four weekly flights on a new Tel Aviv-London (Luton) route, starting June 24.

Wizz Air, which will receive €250,000 from the Ministry of Tourism, says that over the past five years, it has carried 1.3 million passengers to and from Israel. It promises to be the largest low-cost carrier operating from Israel.
Ministry of Tourism provides the Wizz Air with grants for launching routes to destinations Israel did not have a direct air link.
