Former US President Donald Trump said today (Thursday) that he would consider supporting Likud chairman Benjamin Netanyahu in the forthcoming Knesset elections. Trump added he might do so even though Netanyahu “disappointed him.”
In an interview with Newsmax, the former President was asked to support Netanyahu and replied: “I was disappointed by him in several ways, but overall – I liked him very much, and if he runs, I will take that into account.”

Trump has expressed great outrage over Netanyahu greeting Biden for being elected in the November 2020 presidential election. Netanyahu did so 12 hours after Biden’s victory, after long days of recounting votes in key states where the battle was bitter and close.
Trump’s remarks show he was unaware that Netanyahu ran as Likud leader in the coming 5th election. “I do not know it is going to happen,” Trump added about the possibility of declaring support for Netanyahu. “He disappointed me in several ways, but he was also very good at his job,” he added.
In an interview with journalist Barak Ravid in December 2021 for his book “Trump’s Peace,” Trump said: “I loved Netanyahu very much. No one did more for Bibi than I. No one did more for Israel than I did. But the elections in this country were stolen and sewn up.”
“The first person to run to greet Joe Biden was Netanyahu. Leaders of other countries, such as Brazil, waited months. Putin, Mexico. They, too, felt that the election was stitched up,” Trump added in an interview with Barak Ravid. “So Netanyahu, even before the ink dries, records a greeting to Joe Biden? It was early. Okay? Let’s put it this way – he greeted him very early. Earlier than most world leaders. I haven’t spoken to him since. Fuck him.”
At the time, Trump claimed without proof that the presidential election was forged. All petitions filed by his lawyers in real-time to the courts were denied.
