Iran Nuclear Deal Is Reached After Long Negotiations

Reports coming out of Vienna suggest that a deal on the Iranian nuclear program has been reached and may be announced as early as this morning.

American State Department spokesperson Marie Harf confirmed that a final plenary session would be held between the parties to the talks at 10:30 a.m. local time. A press conference will follow.

She tweeted: “#IranTalks UPDATE: Final plenary of EU/P5+1 & Iran at 10:30 am Vienna time at UN. Will be followed by a press conference at Austrian Center.”

Rumors abound as to the content of the deal, but we will need to wait until the formal announcement to find out exactly what it entails.

The Republicans who control the U.S. Congress are expected to be critical of whatever agreement is reached.

And Jewish Democratic Senator Ben Cardin said, “There’s a lot of questions members of Congress have before they decide whether they can support this agreement.”

Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu has said that he intends to lobby the Congress against the deal; even though, he does not yet know what it includes.
