Some badly needed hopeful news for Mets fans: David Wright is saying that he could be cleared to play again by doctors as soon as next week. This, at least, is what the team’s manager Terry Collins is saying.
The Mets are owned by New York real estate mogul Fred Wilpon.

If all goes well, Wright could begin a rehabilitation program which could — hold your fingers Mets fans — mean that he might return before the end of the season.
The team has been without the services of its star hitter since he went on the disabled list due to back problems on April 14th. His bat is sorely missed in a dead lineup which is filled with hitters batting under .200 over the last few months.
Terry Collins said, “I talked to David today, he’s really on the upswing and hopefully he gets back soon and it’s going to be real exciting second half to watch us play, ” Collins said.
“He’s doing some things that are related to baseball activities, ” Collins added. “So he’s got a doctor’s appointment on Monday and he’s hoping he can start some other more aggressive things on the field here pretty soon.”
But most Mets fans are probably saying to themselves right now, “We’ll believe it when we see it.”
