Check out Mandy Patinkin and Claire Danes in the newly released trailer for the upcoming fifth season of the Emmy winning show “Homeland, ” which airs on Showtime.

When Damian Lewis’ main character Nicholas Brody was killed off at the end of the show’s third season the experts said that it would not be able to continue with its success. After all, Lewis was one of Homeland’s biggest draws. Well the experts were wrong.

Last year the fourth season of the drama picked up nicely with an entirely new plot thread that left the whole love story between Lewis and Danes, as well as the intrigue behind Brody’s brainwashed Marine turned terrorist, behind and moved on quite nicely with a storyline set mostly in Pakistan.

The show dealt with the whole issue of Pakistan’s government being duplicitous in its relations with the U.S. as it claims to be helping in the war on terrorism while also giving sanctuary to known terrorists.

In the fifth season, which premieres in October, fans can look forward to more tension between Claire Danes’ character Carrie Mathison and her former mentor Saul Berenson who is played by Mandy Patinkin.

At one point in the trailer Saul tells Carrie, “You’re being naive and stupid, something you never were before.”
