Joseph Gordon Levitt’s upcoming new movie “The Walk” will premiere early in a number of Imax theaters.

Directed by Robert Zemeckis, “The Walk” tells the story of French high-wire artist Philippe Petit’s attempt to cross the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in 1974. If you saw the trailer for the movie already, then you know that the breathtaking sequences of the actual crossing will look amazing on the huge Imax screens.

“We’re excited to be part of Sony’s exclusive release for ‘The Walk, ’ which was designed for and makes brilliant use of Imax 3D, ” says Imax’s Greg Foster. “No one understands Imax better than our longtime partner Bob Zemeckis – he is an artistic genius who uses all of his expertise to give audiences an edge-of-your-seat thrill that will make moviegoers feel like they are out on the tightrope themselves.”

Due out in October, the movie also stars Ben Kingsley.
