Forest City Ratner has revealed plans for an eight-acre park, which will be located between the buildings of its major development currently under construction in Pacific Park Brooklyn, the New York Daily News reports.
Ratner intends to present its plans for the park at a local community meeting on Wednesday.

“The park will make this pocket of the borough more livable for residents of many different Brooklyn neighborhoods, ” MaryAnne Gilmartin, the president and CEO of Forest City, told the Daily News. “There will no longer be a dearth of green space in the heart of Brooklyn. Instead, there will be sprawling lawns, shaded benches and valued neighborhood amenities across eight acres of public open space that will reknit these communities together.”
Pacific Park Brooklyn is a redevelopment of 22 acres in downtown Brooklyn. It will have 16 towers featuring condos and 2, 250 units of affordable housing over 22 acres and 6 million square feet of residential space. The new Barclays Center, where the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets play, is already there.
The development will also have 250, 000 square feet of retail space. The project plan permits a program variation that could allow for up to 1.6 million square feet of commercial space. The project also includes major transportation improvements, including a new storage and maintenance facility for the LIRR and a new subway entrance to the Atlantic Terminal Transit Hub, the third largest hub in the City.

Originally known as Atlantic Yards, the project’s master plan was designed by Frank Gehry. The development was renamed Pacific Park Brooklyn in July 2014.
