Mets Already Dropping 6 Man Rotation

new york mets

It appears that Fred Wilpon’s New York Mets may already giving up on their plans for a six man pitching rotation after only 10 days.

Mets manager Terry Collins was quoted in the Wall Street Journal as saying, “I’m just tired of answering the questions, so we may go back to being traditional.”

“Questions from whom?, ” he was asked.

“Everybody, ” he answered. “My wife. I’m tired of her wanting to know who’s pitching.”

Maybe the real reason has to do with the expected promotion of the team’s star minor league pitcher Steven Matz to the big leagues.

Or maybe it is because a six man rotation was just a silly idea to begin with, which left the team with fewer pitchers available for middle innings relief.

Many people thought that the plan was a sign of desperation for a team which is floundering after an 11 game winning streak back in April which has all but been forgotten.
