Sheldon Adelson and Haim Saban Team Up to Fight the BDS Movement

“BDS is premised on a lie and it is antisemitism plain and simple.”

With all of the controversy last week over the French telecommunications giant Orange pulling out of Israel and then changing its mind, much is being said and done to combat the Boycott, Divest and Sanction movement against the Jewish State. American Jewish casino magnate Sheldon Adelson and American-Israeli media magnate Haim Saban spoke with Israeli television about the problem of the BDS and their efforts to quash it.

Mr. Adelson is in the perfect position to help fight the anti-Israel movement. He has billions and the mogul has generously donated much of his fortune over the years to political candidates in the U.S. He is a Republican and the current Republican Presidential hopefuls are lining up for Adelson’s support in the 2016 elections.

The hypocrisy of the BDS is almost laughable. Boycott Israel, it demands, but not Iran, Syria, Burma, Saudi Arabia, or any of the world’s most notorious abusers of human rights where people are massacred and repressed and where there is no semblance of democracy.

Israel hater Roger Waters is the perfect example of this. He has made it his personal mission to attack Israel and Waters has succeeded in convincing a number of musicians to cancel their planned performances in the country. But what is he doing about the world’s real abusers of human rights? Nothing.

Appearing on Israel’s Channel 2 last night live from a special conference that the two men organized in Las Vegas to fight the BDS, Mr. Adelson warned that, “BDS and all the other anti-Israel and anti-Semitic organizations are making a lot of headway on the campuses in the United States.”

Haim Saban added, “It’s blatant lie. Therefore, we’re gonna weigh all of our options, and one thing is for sure, this isn’t over. It’s the beginning, and for one thing, any company that chooses to boycott business in Israel, is gonna look at this case, and once we’re done, they’re gonna think twice whether they wanna take on Israel or not.”

Mr. Adelson has been courting the support of American politicians to fight the BDS, including Republican Senator from Texas and Presidential candidate Ted Cruz. At a recent dinner with Adelson, Cruz said, “BDS is premised on a lie and it is antisemitism plain and simple.”

Saban also said that, “Maybe the Israeli audience is not aware of, that based on pure research, only 10 percent of Americans are anti-Semites. Just to be mathematically accurate, that’s 33 million people. So, we have to be aware of the fact that it our duty to put Israel’s right image forth to the people, so they see what the real Israel is.”

Adelson added, “Today, there’s little or no sign that in American society that anti-Semitism is even 10 percent, but I’m absolutely positive that there’s a lot of anti-Semitism on campus. Now, the people that are buying it, I don’t believe are intentionally bigots, but they’re buying the arguments that are only reacted to by the various groups that are here [at the summit] today.”

Money really is the real answer to the BDS. As the man said, “Money talks and bull shit walks.” The BDS is entirely the latter.
