MSNBC leads the pack among American television news channels when it comes to taking advantage of Facebook. This according to a new study from the Toronto based Engagement Labs, which studies social media.
So finally some good news for MSNBC. Few, if any, people may be watching the news channel. But it wins with Facebook users. However, the study also showed that Fox and CNN do not trail far behind.

According to the study, titled “U.S. TV Networks – Who’s TV’s Top Network Bunch?, ” while 30% of all U.S. adults now use Facebook as their primary source for news, MSNBC topped all of the networks with a rating of 94.11 out of 100.
“MSNBC demonstrates high audience engagement, ranking number one for comments and shares per 1000 fans and number two for likes per 1000 fans. This is seen in our eValue “top posts” image below showing MSNBC’s top posts on Facebook between May 11-May 24 with their number one post garnering over 51.9K in likes, ” it states.

Bryan Segal, CEO of Engagement Labs, told Variety that the purpose of the eValue ranking is to show how well a property engages with users, not simply how many people are following it.
“Size is not the only thing that matters. In the social-media realm, the world used to be defined by how many likes or followers you have, ” Segal said. “You might have a lot of followers but not many active users.”
