John Malkovich has filed suit against 60 Minutes, specifically against show producer Ira Rosen. Actually he is suing the French paper Le Monde for libel, but 60 Minutes is involved.

Malkovich has accused Le Monde of defamation for saying that he is a tax cheat. It connected the actor to an international tax-evasion scheme involving the bank HSBC known as “SwissLeaks.”
So where does 60 Minutes fit in to the suit? Well last week Malkovich filed papers in a Manhattan federal court claiming that the news program assisted Le Monde in the preparation of its story. 60 Minutes also ran a story about the Le Monde article which named over 100, 000 people involved in the tax scheme, including Malkovich.
The news program, however, did not mention Malkovich.
The actor says that he specifically told Rosen that he never had a Swiss bank account with HSBC. He needs Rosen’s statement to that affect in order to pursue his law suit in which he is seeking over $3000, 000 in damages.
Got it?
