Jon Stewart has created a five-week industry boot camp to help veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan find work in television. The program was started by The Daily Show three years ago, but was kept under the radar until after Stewart announced his departure from the show.
So Stewart is not just a loud mouthed, self-important know it all after all.
In an interview with The New York Times, Stewart said, “This is ready to franchise. Please steal our idea. It isn’t charity. To be good in this business you have to bring in different voices from different places, and we have this wealth of experience that just wasn’t being tapped.”

Some people might be surprised that Stewart is doing this after his vocal criticism of the two wars. But the program is for the people who fought over there only to be stiffed by their government once they got home.
“I knew I had very strong opinions about what we were doing over there, and I wanted to visit the individuals who were part of the effort to gain a perspective on it, ” Stewart added. “Most of all, I realized it was unbelievably hot, nothing but sand. I knew we were nation-building there. I didn’t realize we were nation-building on Mars.”
