Ezra Klein and Jim Bankoff’s Vox Media has acquired Revere Digital, the parent company of Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher’s web blog ReCode. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed other than that it was all for stock.

Swisher and Mossberg revealed the news in a posting on ReCode. They stated, “We are thrilled to announce that Re/code’s parent company, Revere Digital, is being wholly acquired by the highly respected digital-native media company Vox Media. This is the next big step in our mission to bring you quality tech journalism, because our work will now be amplified and enhanced by Vox Media’s deep and broad skill set.”

The two also pointed out that Re/code will benefit from joining Vox Media since it will now be able to integrate Vox’s various capabilities like marketing, communications, audience development, sales and production. They also expressed optimism at the idea of eventually switching to Vox Media’s “beautiful, powerful and flexible” proprietary publishing platform.

Swisher and Mossberg also reassured ReCode’s readers that its editorial team will not change and neither will its content.

Vox echoed these sentiments in its own posting saying, “Re/code will benefit from Vox Media’s infrastructure and resources, and will eventually move on to Chorus, Vox Media’s proprietary platform. The current members of Re/code’s staff will soon be employees of Vox Media.”

“Welcome, Kara, Walt, and the Re/code team to Vox Media!”

According to comScore, ReCode gets 1.5 million regular monthly visitors.

The website originally belonged to The Wall Street Journal and its parent company, Dow Jones. At that time ReCode was called AllThingsD, which was founded in 2007. According to the New York Times, it steadily built a following among technology executives. The site grew out of a popular conference business that became known for hosting high tech titans like Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg. The conference business grew and was part of the reason for ReCode’s acquisition by Vox, the Times reported.
