Sultry screen siren Rachel Weisz will team up with the director Pete Travis on his upcoming movie called “Snatchback.” The announcement was made at the Cannes Film Festival this week.
The movie comes from Protagonist Pictures and is set in the world of illegal child recoveries. The Oscar winner Weisz portrays Maureen, or Mo, whose daughter was abducted by the father when she was 3 years old. Mo then devotes her life to help finding children who were taken away from their mothers. She operates specifically in the Middle East where her husband took their daughter.
It is based on the true story of Maureen Dabbagh, whose husband kidnapped their daughter back in 1992. It took Dabbagh 10 years to find her.

Protagonist CEO Mike Goodridge told the Hollywood Reporter, “As told by Pete Travis in his riveting script, Mo’s story is powerful and exciting, but at its heart are deep maternal emotions that anyone in the world can relate to. It’s a powerhouse role and only an actress as gifted as Rachel could play it.”
Eric Laufer, Giovanna Randall and Josh Goldstein will exec produce.
Weisz is very busy these days. She has 4 movies coming out this year.
