Hilary Swank and Tom Wilkinson To Star in New Holocaust Drama

There is no word yet on a production schedule, let alone a release date.

Hilary Swank
Two time Oscar winning actress Hilary Swank and Oscar nominee Tom Wilkinson have been confirmed as joining the cast of the new Holocaust movie called “Denial.”

The film will be based on Deborah E. Lipstadt’s book, History on Trial: My Day in Court with a Holocaust Denier.

Published in 2006, the book tells the story of how Lipstadt had to defend herself against a libel suit brought against her in England by the author David Irving. The writer brought the suit because in her 1993 book Denying the Holocaust, Lipstadt accused Irving of being a Holocaust denier.

In England the burden is on the defendant in a libel suit to prove that his or her words were not defaming and were accurate.

Spoiler alert: In 2000 Lipstadt and her publisher, Penguin, won the case.

The project was developed by BBC Films and Participant Media. Mick Jackson (The Bodyguard) is set to direct. Gary Foster and Russ Krasnoff will produce under their Krasnoff/Foster Entertainment banner alongside Shoebox Films.

There is no word yet on a production schedule, let alone a release date.
