Eran Chen’s ODA Architecture to Put Rooftop Gardens on New Bushwick Building

“What is so exciting about Bushwick and similar rejuvenating neighborhoods in Brooklyn is the fact that we have the opportunity to recalibrate our vision of how we want to live and do it in big scale.”

Rooftop Gardens on New Bushwick

Eran Chen’s ODA Architecture has revealed its plans for the new residential development at the site of a former Rheingold brewery in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn. Simon Dushinsky’s Rabsky Group is behind the project located at 10 Montieth Street.

The design calls for an asymmetrical roof that is reminiscent of something from an Escher painting. The roof of the seven story building will be partially covered with 25, 000 square feet of trees and bushes, making it look like a mini-park.

The rental apartment building will have 392 units, 20% of which will be reserved for affordable housing under New York City’s 80/20 plan which offers developers a tax discount. There will be 123 studios, 228 one-bedrooms and 41 two bedroom apartments.

The building will have 270, 000 square feet of space, including 5, 000 square feet of retail frontage. The 80 foot tall structure will offer residents amenities including parking spaces, an exercise room, a movie screening room, a party/media room, and as many as 6 different outdoor recreation areas.

“What is so exciting about Bushwick and similar rejuvenating neighborhoods in Brooklyn is the fact that we have the opportunity to recalibrate our vision of how we want to live and do it in big scale, ” said Eran Chen of ODA. “Our home is much more than a collection of apartments bundled together under a façade. It is an organism that supports more aspects of our lives and promotes social interaction and quality of life”.
