Congressman Brad Ashford (D-Neb) has added his name as co-sponsor of the anti-online gambling bill Sheldon Adelson has been fighting for (and shelling out the bucks for), the Washington Post has reported.
Ashford became the 14th name Adelson’s list of co-sponsors the same day Miriam Adelson’s flying purse hit him on the shoulder.

Sheldon Adelson and his wife attended the much publicized speech by Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, when Miriam Adelson unexpectedly dropped her purse off the visitors’ balcony ledge and it hit Ashford, who was sitting directly below.
Of course, a spokesman for Congressman Ashford said his boss was going to sponsor the Adelson bill even before he was hit by Miriam Adelson’s purse. But a simple calculation reveals that if Mrs. Adelson kept even a tiny portion of her husband’s wealth in coins inside her purse, it would have turned it into a lethal weapon.
Miriam Adelson called Ashford the next day to apologize
Sheldon and Miriam Adelson met on a blind date in 1991, after both had divorced their spouses.
