The PLO Central Council has adopted a resolution to suspend security coordination with Israel, Ma’an reported.
The PLO has adopted several resolutions during 27 meetings it held over the past two days, including a call for Israel to assume “all its responsibilities in accordance with its obligations under international law” as the occupying power.

The council called to “suspend all forms of security coordination given Israel’s systematic and ongoing noncompliance with its obligations under signed agreements.”
PLO officials Nasser al-Deen Shaer and Sameer Abu Aisha, who attended the session, told Ma’an that the decision to halt security coordination will be “executed at the appropriate time following discussions with the executive committee.”
Israel radio reported, citing an IDF source, that so far security cooperation with the Palestinian Authority is being maintained as usual.
The PLO is also boycotting all Israeli products, from either side of the green line, and, as a bonus, it rejects “attempts to recognize Israel as a Jewish State.”
The PLO also called for speeding up political reconciliation with Hamas, and for holding presidential and parliamentary elections “as soon as possible.”
The last time the Palestinian Authority held presidential elections was in January, 2005 (Abbas was elected with 62 percent of the votes). That’s 10 years ago. The last time there was a vote for the Palestinian legislative committee was in 2006. Hamas won in Gaza. One can safely suspect that the reason they’ve waited so long to hold another election was because they don’t want Hamas to win in Ramallah.
The PLO council also called on the international community to hold Israel accountable for “systematic violations of international law.” It plans, in coordination with the Arab League, to ask the UN Security Council to set a date for Israel’s withdrawal from all occupied territories, in accordance with UN Resolution 194.
