Alberto Nisman was shot dead in his Buenos Aires apartment on January 18, one day before he was scheduled to tell a parliamentary committee that President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner was behind a cover-up of Iran’s role in the 1994 bombing of the Jewish community center that killed 85 people.
There is no official ruling on the cause of Nisman’s death, although officials have suggested it was a suicide.
AP noted that Argentine law permits the families of victims access to the crime scene, to conduct their own forensic tests.
On Wednesday, a judge ruled there is no evidence to suggest President Fernandez was involved in a cover-up. Nisman’s successor, prosecutor Gerardo Pollicita, appealed the judge decision to stop the investigation.
