Drew Barrymore has announced that she has signed a deal to write a book of autobiographical essays about her life.
The book will be published by Dutton, and will contain stories about “living on her own at 14 (and how laundry may have saved her life), getting stuck on a gas station overhang on a cross country road trip, saying goodbye to her father the only way he could have understood, and many more adventures and lessons that have led to the most important thing in her life, which is motherhood, ” according to Indiewire.

According to Justjared.com, Barrymore said in a statement, “I love stories that are humorous, emotional and welcoming, and that is my goal in writing the book. Ben Sevier, the publisher of Dutton, said, “We are pleased to welcome Drew Barrymore, a true American icon, to the Dutton list, and can’t wait to help her bring her wonderful writing to the world.”
Drew Barrymore, scion of a legendary acting family, is married to Will Koppelman, has two children, and while she hasn’t yet converted, has discussed raising them in the Jewish faith. She went through the painful and arduous process of having her tattoos removed (tattoos are forbidden by Jewish law) and has given her oldest child, 3 year old Olive, Hebrew lessons. Recently, she kvelled to People when Olive said her first “Oy Vey.”
