Bryan Singer

Bryan Singer is planning on bringing to the big screen an adaptation of Robert Heinlein’s classic Hugo Award winning science fiction novel The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.

The director who first became famous for 1995’s Oscar winning classic “The Usual Suspects” has already proven his skills in the science fiction genre with the X Men movies.

Released in 1966, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress is set in the year 2075. It centers on a rebellion against the Earth by the human colonists living on the Moon.

The colonists are comprised mostly of criminals and political exiles and their descendants. This, in part, echoes the story of the American colonists who rebelled against British rule.

This marks the second attempt to bring the book to the silver screen. A decade ago DreamWorks tried to make a movie out of it, but the project never got off the ground.

Twentieth Century Fox holds the rights to the novel and Marc Guggenheim – an executive producer of the hit superhero television show Arrow – will adapt the screenplay.

It has yet to be cast.
