NY AG Eric Schneiderman Suspects Governor Cuomo Fixed Casino Licenses

The Gaming Commission spokesman, Lee Park, told the Daily News, “The casino-siting process … called for unprecedented transparency.”

Schneiderman + Cuomo

Eric Schneiderman is sparring with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo over upstate casino licenses that were granted last year. Schneiderman, perhaps in partial revenge for the governor asking publicly if he wears eyeliner, wants to ensure the casinos that were given licenses were not given preferential treatment.

In December, gaming licenses were given in the Catskills, Schenectady and the Finger Lakes region, according to the New York Daily News. Jeff Gural, who owns the Tioga Downs racetrack near Binghampton, says his area needed more economic stimulation. Gural, however, doesn’t think there was any wrongdoing involved in the decision.

The Gaming Commission spokesman, Lee Park, told the Daily News, “The casino-siting process strictly followed the provisions of the Upstate New York Gaming Economic Development Act, which called for unprecedented transparency.”

So Schneiderman might not be able to zing Governor Cuomo this time. Schneiderman has also been critical of Cuomo’s own Department of Financial Services acting as the watchdog of the financial services industry (presumably he thinks the department will behave more like a lap dog).

In the meantime, perhaps while Schneiderman, who really does have the best interest of the average New Yorker at heart, is investigating everyone else, someone should look into the matter of whether he really does wear eyeliner? Perhaps he is having his eyelids permanently painted, like Michael Jackson?
