CL, the lead singer of the popular Korean girl group 2NE1 (pronounced “To anyone”), said she won’t be sexing up her image for anyone, and manager Scooter Braun honors her decision, according to chinatopix.
The band 2NE1’s single “I Don’t Care” (which sums up CL’s attitude about people who say she should revamp her image) won Song of the Year at the 2009 Mnet Asian Music Awards. CL, known as Lee Chae-rin is launching a solo career, and told Complex Magazine, “Well, you know my image when I was in 2NE1 and I’m not going to change that. I’m not against being sexy or beautiful or anything, but it’s just that I have this, I don’t know how to say it. But I have this cool image that I want to keep.” She responded to a question of whether she will make her image sexier for the American audience.

Scooter Braun, who also manages Justin Beiber, is CL’s manger in the U.S. and said he honored her decision as an artist. Of Braun, CL said, “He definitely respects me already as an artist and he loves what I’ve been doing. He just wants to bring me out here and balance it out. I want to represent Asian women in the right way. He wants to support that.”
This isn’t the first Korean act Braun has worked with; he was also involved with PSY who made Gangnam Style famous. CL is set to release her solo album in the spring of 2015.
