The Academy Awards last night paid tribute to stars who passed away last year, skipping over one star — everybody’s favorite, funny, loudmouth Joan Rivers.
So, while Jewish departed like Mike Nichols and Lauren Bacall, and gentile departed like Robin Williams and Maya Angelou were included, Joan wasn’t.

The social media were very upset, reacting with:
Colette Phillips @ColettePhillips: Did I miss something or was Joan Rivers excluded fr #Ocars2015 Memoriam Tribute?#RIPJoanRivers. Gone but not 4gotten.
And:
billy eichner @billyeichner: No Joan Rivers in the montage??? She basically created the red carpet which makes all of these bitches millions. For shame!!!
And:
Lance Bass @LanceBass: Why was @joanrivers cut out of the #Oscars ? Oversight or beef?
No, no beef at all, and certainly no oversight (you can’t ignore Joan Rivers, even if you try very hard).
And it’s true that, as many mentioned, Rivers starred in more than 20 movies, including an award-winning, autobiographical documentary, A Piece of Work.
It’s just that in order for a departed to be included in the memorial segment, they have to have been a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture of Arts and Science.
So, in the end, Joan Rivers still didn’t cut through the wall to gain showbiz legitimacy. They should have included her, just so people won’t write sentences like I just did…
Painful.
