So now that Jon Stewart is stepping down from the Daily Show people everywhere are talking about what they would like to see him do for his finale and who should replace him. Stewart himself also thinks that he should have a say in the matter.
John Oliver is out. Larry Wilmore just took over Stephen Colbert’s show as Colbert himself is headed for CBS and its Late Show. There are still plenty of qualified candidates out there, though.

How about Brian Williams? He may soon be made available by NBC News and apparently he likes to tell fake news stories so he could be perfect for the job.
But what has Stewart said?
Without naming names when speaking at the Catie Lazarus’s show “Employee of the Month” at a New York pub, Stewart said, “What I want to see there is the next iteration of this idea. I feel like the tributaries of my brain combined with the rigidity of the format.”
“I feel like I used every permutation of that I could possibly use, ” he added. “I would love to see the next iteration of that, like John Oliver was able to apply our process to a more considered thing, and it’s exciting to watch it evolve and see it mutate and change and fill different gaps and different ideas. That’s the part that I’m looking forward to seeing.”
As for why he is stepping down, Stewart implied that it had something to do with spending more time with his family. Usually when this is given as the reason why an actor has exited a hit show or a politician is leaving office early it means that he was either fired or there was some scandal was brewing behind the scenes. Obviously this was not the case with Stewart as he is at the height of his fame today.
The outgoing Daily Show Host said, “I just needed more flexibility. I got maybe four or five more years with the kids until they really don’t want anything to do with me. And I’m just not there. You can’t [12 hour days] for 16 years and think you’re going to be able to tell them to not smoke pot. You can’t show up at 9 p.m. and go, ‘Don’t get high. OK, goodnight, sweetheart.'”
