In Jerusalem, Magen David Adom (MDA) received a phone call around midnight that a woman was about to give birth on Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Druck Street. As MDA paramedics and medics were driving the pregnant woman to the hospital, contractions began along the way and the baby had to be delivered on Haim Bar Lev Boulevard.

The MDA team was led by paramedic Aluma Simon, who safely delivered the baby girl. The mother, 25, and the newborn were then immediately transferred to Bikur Holim hospital in Jerusalem. It was the mother’s second birth.

Simon described the stressful ambulance delivery, saying that such deliveries in snowy weather and dangerous road conditions require even more caution and attention. “Deliveries in ambulances always place us under even greater stress until we hear the first cry of the baby, ” said Simon.

“But tonight, with the snow, the hard cold and dangerous roads, the delivery required even greater attention and care. I am so happy that the birth of the baby concluded well and I congratulate the family on the new addition to their family.”
