Drew Barrymore Kvells At Daughter’s First ‘Oy Vey’

Drew Barrymore with Olive

Drew Barrymore, the child star from a celebrated acting dynasty who has been warming up to Judaism since her third marriage to Will Koppelman, kvelled over her 2 year old daughter Olive’s first “Oy Vey” and the child’s success at counting to three in Hebrew.

Barrymore told People magazine during an outing at a farmer’s market in Los Angeles, “She said her first Oy vey. That made me very happy … My daughter counted to three in Hebrew today. She was learning (Hebrew) this morning, so I was proud of her.” Olive is likely to relay her budding Hebrew and Yiddish vocabulary to her 9 month old brother, Frankie.

Drew Barrymore grew up in the public eye and was the sweet blond child star with the golden Barrymore reputation. She nearly stole the show in the film ET from the alien, had a smashingly funny appearance on Saturday Night Live, while admitting it was “past her bedtime, ” but was also probably the youngest person to admit she had gone to rehab. On The View, Barrymore discussed her intention to raise her children in her husband’s Jewish faith, and said getting all of those tattoos removed, which is a requirement for those intending, later rather than sooner, to be buried in a Jewish cemetery, was a difficult task. In any case, she didn’t have to worry about the tattoos clashing with her wardrobe anymore, a source told Star magazine.
