Salesforce is the world’s biggest maker of online sales software.

One of the first people he hired at Salesforce was a human resources (HR) manager, Nancy Connery, because “acquiring the right talent is the most important key to growth”, the report said.

Connery was one of the three Oracle people Benioff took with him when he left the company to found Salesforce in 1999. Over nearly seven years at Salesforce, as founding VP of Human Resources, Connery was responsible for recruiting 650 employees, Business Insider said.

Connery, who now runs her own HR consulting firm, told Business Insider that companies need to take hiring seriously and spend more time on it to find people that fit right in with the company DNA, the report said.

In order to do so, Connery said, the interview process needs to test the raw intelligence, integrity and communications skills of candidates. And if some of those hired inevitably don’t fit in, it’s important to not mess around and just “fire fast”, Business Insider said.
