The fact that the scandal surrounding CBS basketball analyst Greg Anthony might have some resemblance to Marv Albert’s 1997 kinky media circus might be both good and bad for Anthony. First, the bad news is that, yes Anthony is embroiled in a scandal involving allegations that he solicited a prostitute and has been dismissed. The good news, at least for Anthony, is that the details are less sleazy than Albert’s and even the “voice of basketball” was back in less than two years.
According to 2 Paragraphs, Tejas Desai in Good Americans writes, “I imagine this ‘suspension’ is only a temporary move before he comes back ala Marv Albert. It’s funny our society goes through all this rigmarole just to keep up appearances.

Marv Albert, who was born to a Jewish family in Brooklyn and whose father owned a grocery store in Brighton Beach, was revered prior to the storm in 1997 when the Basketball Hall of Famer was accused of “forced sodomy.” A woman named Vanessa Perhach accused Albert who, according to the NY DailyNews, was known for his “excitable blow by blow calls” of throwing her on the bed, biting her and forcing her to perform oral sex. DNA confirmed the bite marks were Albert’s. Another woman claimed that Albert had bitten her several times and when he asked her to help him send a fax, she saw him wearing white panties and a garter belt. Albert ultimately pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and battery charges, and the sodomy charge was dropped.
