NBC TV NY Links Frontier Healthcare to Joan Rivers’ Death

Frontier Healthcare

NBC 4 New York’s local news team has uncovered information about the facility where Joan Rivers was killed due to gross negligence during a medical procedure. Apparently a firm called Frontier Healthcare provides the management services to Yorkville Endoscopy Center where the legendary comedian died as well as a number of other medical facilities in the New York area.

The anesthesiologist who was responsible for observing Rivers’ vital signs during the procedure has been accused of being the one who botched the procedure by administering too much of the drug Propofol to the comedian.

The Channel 4 I-Team reported that at least three other medical centers in New York that are managed by Yorkville also have failed safety standards in the past.

Not only was Joan Rivers’ death attributed to her doctor’s performing a procedure which he should not have in his offices, but her privacy was also violated as people took pictures of Rivers while she was under anesthesia.

Frontier Healthcare has issued a statement in response to the report in which the firm asserts that it is fully accredited by the State on New York and it meets all medical regulations and standards.

“These centers are fully licensed by the New York State Department of Health and accredited by agencies approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, ” the statement opens. “The rigorous review processes for approval and accreditation of all ambulatory surgical facilities, as well as all hospitals and other healthcare facilities, prior to and immediately following opening, were established as a way to ensure that all laws and standards are met and/or exceeded and that any concerns be corrected.”

“The fact that during an accreditation survey issues were identified and corrected is not unusual and is within the industry norm. The issues noted at these centers upon initial survey, when these centers first opened during the period 2011 to 2013, were then immediately addressed and as a result these centers have been licensed to operate in New York State and participate in Medicare and Medicaid. There are no current deficiencies outstanding.”
