It has been confirmed by Variety that Scarlett Johansson has been signed to star in the upcoming film from DreamWorks called “Ghost in the Shell.”
Based on the acclaimed anime picture of the same name from 20 years ago, Ghost in the Shell will have something to do with a cyborg cop who fights crime. Johansson will get to continue to play an action hero and to beat people up on camera as she has done in the Marvel movies where she plays the badass martial arts expert “Black Widow” as well as films like “Lucy.”

According to reports, Johansson’s star power alone was enough to get the project greenlit. While the original was set in Japan with Japanese characters, there is no word yet on how the live action version will be changed for American audiences’ tastes.
While the rest of the cast has yet to be announced, Avi Arad and Steven Paul are among its producers.
