Sheldon Adelon’s casino’s haven’t been doing well in Macau, with the Chinese crackdown on gambling, but he might be able to spare Mike Huckabee a dime. The question is, will Huckebee’s strong conservative take on social issues cause Adelson to close his wallet?
Mike Huckabee made no bones about why he was leaving FoxNews. He is preparing for a 2016 run and needs to devote his energies to get financial backing. Huckabee is a darling of the Christian Right, but the question is, will he be able to attract moderate Republican dollars and support?

Huckabee has been outspoken in his support for Israel, which must have warmed Sheldon Adelson’s heart. However, Adelson also admired Ted Cruz’s affection for the Jewish state, but added, according to the Daily Beast, that Cruz was a bit extreme on social issues. It doesn’t seem it will be that much different with Huckabee.
However, there is a chance that Huckabee could see eye to eye with mainstream republicans on taxes–he wants the tax system gotten rid of and replaced with a consumption tax. He was outspoken on law and order issues in the aftermath of the killing of the police officers in New York. In addition, he has backed “fair trade” in the face of globalization.
So while Huckabee might attract centrist Republicans, endless rhetoric about traditional moral values might make a casino billionaire like Adelson feel more comfortable putting his money on another table. Or throw it into the Bushes.
