Max Factor Reaches Beyond the Grave to Make Marilyn New Beauty Ambassador

Marilyn Monroe

If Barry Manilow can sing a duet with the deceased Judy Garland in his newest album, why not bring a star back from the grave for a comeback? Max Factor is making Marilyn Monroe its beauty ambassador, although the actress passed away at the age of 36 in 1962.

While in the past, Max Factor has availed itself of the beauty and talents of Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow to promote its brand, one of the most famous names in Hollywood cosmetics has as its new representative the star whose appearance it transformed the most, and the result defined glamor in the 40s and 50s.

According to Australian Women’s Weekly, Pat McGrath of Max Factor said, “Marilyn made the sultry lip, the creamy skin and the dramatically lined eyes the most famous beauty look of the 1940s and it’s a look that continues to dominate the beauty and fashion industry.”

The ads will focus on Max Factor’s role in transforming the “timid Norma Jean” into the “glamorous Marilyn Monroe, ” and one hopes that the ad will give at least some credit for Marilyn’s style to Marilyn herself.

Max Factor is promoting a social media campaign urging women to glam up and photograph themselves with the hastag GlamJam.
