Israeli Tech Power Couple Have Keys to Home Improvement

Alon Cohen and Adi Tatarko

Houzz, one of the hottest home improvement websites, was founded by Israeli immigrants to America, Alon Cohen and Adi Tatarko when they were trying to figure out how to decorate their Silicon Valley apartment. When designers and architects talked shop with them, they found that they, like many others, didn’t get the lingo of professionals. From this frustration, they founded Houzz, a website that is a nerve center for home improvement, attracting people providing and looking for services.

Adi and Elon were called, “techs newest power couple” by Forbes and they raised $165 million in venture capital. The website, according to Business Insider, has 25 unique viewers per month and has 5 million images from 500, o00 designers. Professionals create a mini-website advertising their services, and pay monthly fees. Those who want to browse are given informative articles and leads to take the guesswork out of revamping a home. The estimated market cap of Houzz, after its rapid rise, is around $2 billion.
