‘Taxi King’ Simon Garber Selling Two Apartments for over $30 Million Combined

Simon Garber

Simon Garber, known as the “Taxi King” of New York, recently listed his TriBeCa penthouse at 101 Warren Street for $27 million. Now the New York Post has reported that the controversial businessman who was born to a Jewish family which fled the former Soviet Union in 1978 is also selling his 21st-floor unit at Trump World Tower for $4.1 million.

Located in lower Manhattan, the first apartment has 6, 400 square feet of space and is on the building’s 32nd floor. It was made from combining units 3210 and 3240 into a single condominium. It has six bedrooms, six full bathrooms and 2, 500 square feet of outdoor space.

Its interiors were designed by Richard Mishaan. Its unique features include a wall of lime-green, lacquer-like cabinetry in the massive kitchen. The kitchen also features a more serene area comprised of darker cabinetry set off with accents of white.

Garber’s other apartment located at 845 United Nations Plaza in the Trump World Tower has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a total of 1, 976 square feet of space. The Taxi King cut the asking price of the 21st floor apartment from $4.395 million.

Adjacent to the United Nations Headquarters and surrounded by lush landscaping with a public plaza along East 47th Street, Trump World Tower is a 90 story building with a glass façade. Its apartments have floor-to-ceiling and residences display river or city views. Imported marble and the finest fixtures adorn each bath. Polished maple hardwood floors and granite countertops grace the dining and living rooms. Amenities for residents include a private spa and health club, 60-foot pool, world-class restaurant, Megu and a private wine cellar.

Garber, who owns the Yellow Cab SLS Jet Management Corp. and operates roughly 275 taxis in New York, has been accused of many improprieties in the past. In August he reached a deal with the New York Attorney General’s office in which he agreed to pay $1.6 million in restitution and fines for overcharging cab drivers who leased vehicles from his company.
