The Weinsteins have come to the defense of their latest film’s star Amy Adams after she had her interview cut from the Today Show on NBC this week. The reason for the canceling of the actress’ segment changes depending on whom you ask.
Adams appears as Margaret Keane, a painter who let her husband take credit for her work, in the new movie “Big Eyes” which comes out on Christmas Day. Christoph Waltz plays her husband.

According to Adams’ side of the story, while waiting in the green room before going on air she was asked if she would comment on the Sony hacking scandal and how it affected her. Adams was one of many celebrities who have been embarrassed in some way by it.
The five time Oscar nominees asserts that when she refused to even talk about it during her interview officials from Today decided to bump her from the show.
NBC, however, has said that Adams became abusive with staffers and made unreasonable demands. It said that,
“As a news program, the ‘Today’ show doesn’t allow guests to dictate restrictions on interviews. In this case, after hours of discussion we felt uncomfortable with the demands being made and we determined the best course of action for all parties involved was to cancel the interview.”
The Weinstein Company released the following statement in defense of its star:
“We firmly stand behind Amy Adams. We’ve been lucky enough to have had her talents grace several of our films. We are certain her fellow actors and directors would all agree, she is nothing but the consummate professional both on and off set. Amy decided to speak up for herself and express her disappointment that ‘Today’ would feel the need to ask her a question she did not feel comfortable [answering], and rather than respect her opinion or continue the discussion, the reaction was to pull her appearance from the show.”
