The NYS Thruway Authority passed its budget, but reported a significant budget deficit. State Senator Michael Ranzenhofer said, “When you propose your budget and not have it balanced, that question needs to be answered, ” as reported by the Daily Mail.
The Thruway Authority is going to be investigated and questions are being asked at the highest levels of the organization. Governor Cuomo is reportedly looking for a replacement for Executive Director Thomas Madison. There are also questions about the resignation of wealthy developer Howard Milstein from the Authority, where he served as chairman. Milstein gave a significant amount of money to Governor Cuomo’s re-election campaign, and some are suspicious that he left as Chairman to avoid being investigated, but other sources said Milstein’s plans to leave the Authority pre-dated any indication of an investigation.
