Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross Will Not Fire Philbin

Buffalo Bills v Miami Dolphins

There was chatter recently that Dolphin’s owner Steve Ross was set to fire coach Joe Philbin, but with the Dolphins beating Minnesota 37-35 in the last 41 seconds of the game, Philbin felt confident about retaining his job, and he was right. The Sun Sentinel reported that at the same time he said he felt secure in his position when asked on the field, Ross was telling reporters that Philbin would still be coach for his fourth season.

While Ross conceded, “It is frustrating we didn’t make the playoffs. I feel as bad as everybody does, ” he added, “I think we’re building something here, and I believe in the coach.”

Even though the Dolphins have missed the playoffs 12 times in the past 13 years, the Dolphins and Vikings game will be remember as one of the most suspenseful in the season, with the Dolphins trailing 17-7 at halftime, and making a marvelous comeback. It was a high point for players Ryan Tannehill, Mike Wallace, Charles Clay and Lamar Miller, who gave their best performances this season.

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is also majority owner in The Related Companies. He was born to a Jewish family in Detroit.
