Larry David stopped by The B.S. Report with Bill Simmons this week to promote his new play, Fish in the Dark. But he opened up about a lot of things like being ”scarred” by the public reaction to the Seinfeld finale and whether or not there will be another season of his HBO hit comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm.
David said that the trauma he still feels over the poorly received last episode of Seinfeld is part of the reason that he is not planning on a final or “wrap up” season for Curbed. “The odds would be against it, ” he said. “I got so much grief from the ‘Seinfeld’ finale, which a lot of people intensely disliked, that I no longer feel a need to wrap things up. I wouldn’t say I’m mad about it. But it taught me a lesson that if I ever did another show, I wasn’t going to wrap it up.”

On why he wrote the Seinfeld finale in the way that he did David said, “Let me toot my own horn for a second: I thought it was clever to bring back all those characters in a courtroom and testify against [the four] for what they did, and then show those clips and also for why they even got arrested in the first place. And then to wind up — forget the self-aggrandizement here— I thought it was clever.”
But the comedian and TV star said that people have a lot of expectations going into the finale of a popular TV show. Each fan has his own idea of what should happen to each of the characters and are usually disappointed when it does not happen. This is how David explains why so many die hard Seinfeld fans were disappointed in its ending.
About playing golf David said, “Playing well makes you play poorly. Last weekend I was playing great, then I tried to match what I was doing and I REALLY fell apart. It was awful. I’m not good company on the golf course. I’m intense, I’m focused and I’m not all that charming…I’m so moody.”
