President Reuven Rivlin has answered questions from editor-in-chief Hagai Golan at the opening session of the “Globes’ 2014 Israel Business Conference. He expressed concerns that Israelis will not vote in the upcoming Knesset elections.

Rivlin said, “I hope that what was in the past will happen in the future. In other words, I’m concerned that public won’t go to vote because it no longer believes, and that perhaps there will be those who say that democracy is not beneficial. I hope that the entire public will go to the polls. Political leaders must also realize that returning a central bloc is important for governance.

of living protests in 2011, the situation of the Israeli public is not better, and has even worsened?

Rivlin said, “The social protests brought about a situation in which 57 Knesset members were changed and that was good news. However, MKs were not elected who had formulated their opinions. Each one came to express his personal opinion but did not always know where he was going and what decisions he needed to take. It brought about frenzy. Electors are very disappointed because the last elections changed electoral behavior but did not bring solutions.”
