Loews Hotels aims to grow and has hired Kirk Kinsell of InterContinental Hotels as CEO, as reported by Bloomberg. Chairman Jonathan Tisch said, “We’re a fairly small player that wants to get bigger … Kirk has vast International experience. We will be open to his ideas on how we might expand.”
Kinsell will be replacing Paul Whetsell, who will become vice chairman. Kinsell directed ICH’s operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Loews has already expanded from 18 hotels to 21 while Whetsell was a the helm. The company purchased a hotel from InterContinental close to O’Hare airport and is opening its fifth Orlando, Florida hotel. The company produced $8 million in net income the first nine months in 2014.
