Republican Ted Cruz, the Senator for Texas associated with the Tea Party movement has high Presidential aspirations, but they might not pan out if he doesn’t get the funding. He met with casino mogul Sheldon Adelson for two hours, but it didn’t seem to help; Adelson didn’t give him an endorsement, according to JP Updates. Although Sheldon is no left winger, and has received criticism in Israel for distributing his right-of-center newspaper Israel haYom for free, has made statements considered “hawkish” by the left and gave money to Newt Gingrich in his 2012 Presidential bid, it seems Adelson is likely to back Jeb Bush, with whom he also met, or perhaps Chris Christie.
Ted Cruz has been quite vocal in his support for Israel, and this might garner support from right-leaning Republican Jews, but when it comes to writing checks, donors tend to put their money on a candidate that is actually likely to win, which means that Bush and Christie are likely to leave Cruz in the dust.

Ted Cruz is viewed by some mainstream Republicans as a radical, and his role in the government shutdown controversy perhaps has branded him.
Ray Washburne of the Republican National Committee said, “The big elephant in the room is Jeb Bush. Donors are all waiting to see what Jeb’s move is.”
