Philanthropists Norma and Irma Braman are helping to fund the Institute of Contemporary Art in Miami. The Bramans who own car dealerships, could not give an estimate to the exact amount they will be donating, since the estimates for various stages of the design and construction have not yet been estimated, but the board of the institute said sufficient funds had been gathered for the next ten years, as reported by the New York Times.
The Moore building in the Design District will be a temporary home for the museum. The land is donated by Miami Design District Associates. Irma Braman said, “We love this museum, and we felt it was the right time, and the right place, with the right museum.” Ms. Braman has headed the Museum of Contemporary Art board for ten years. The building will be designed by Aranguren & Gallegos of Madrid, and the opening is planned for December 2016.
