Fueled by strong growth in emerging markets, global smartphone shipments topped 300 million units for the second consecutive quarter. According to IDC, smartphone vendors shipped a total of 327.6 million units between July and September, representing a healthy 25% increase over last year’s September quarter.

Consequently, Samsung was the only vendor among the Top 5 that suffered a decline in shipments compared to last year’s third quarter.
