Protestors in France disrupt screening of Israeli documentary about Arab girl and Israeli boy dancing together

Anti-Israel demonstrators disrupt the Israeli film festival in France. About 20 of them stood up and began shouting anti-Israel slogans while they threw stink bombs.. The screening of an Israeli film was about hope Jews and Muslims dance together in the city of Jaffa.

The screening was held in the presence of the Israeli Consul General  in France, Barnea Hassid. Several pro-Palestinian group, including Vaucluse-Palestine BDS and Coordination Sud, were present at the event. In a video posted on the Facebook page of Vaucluse-Palestine group

About 80 pro-Palestinian activist demonstrated in the streets for an hour before the screening of the Dancing in Jaffa of Hilla Medalia’s documentary, some of them manage to enter the projection room, having bought their places. They suspended the broadcast of the movie for a few minutes before being expelled by the security forces.

The message of tolerance in this documentary tells the story of a Jewish dancer who wishes to bring together Jewish and Palestinian children dance together. The goal is to bring the involvement the two communities.

In a video posted on the Facebook page of Vaucluse-Palestine group, one of the members said that “this is not the film that is being challenged, but the presence of the Consul General of Israel.”

Hilla Medalia’s movie has received several awards, including Best Documentary at the festival Ramdam in Belgium and has been selected for festivals Trebica, Sydney and Deauville in 2013.

The Israeli film festival runs until October 12.
