Although Las Vegas Sands CEO Sheldon Adelson increased his wealth in 2014 by $3.5 billion from a year ago to $32 billion, he dropped a spot to the occupy the 12th position on Forbes list of the richest people in America. Adelson, however, is still the richest man in Nevada.
The Las Vegas Review Journal noted that Forbes emphasized Adelson’s involvement in politics over his business pursuits. Forbes printed, “Casino King Sheldon Adelson spent $100 million trying to put a Republican in the White House in 2012 and is already shaping up to be a power player again in 2016.” Adelson gets $450 million in dividends from the company, which is “more than enough to cover his expenses as a high-profile donor in America.”

Sheldon Adelson puts his money and his mouth in many political causes. Inexplicably (to no one) he has been a major backer of banning online gambling, since he obviously feels throwing money away in a casino is more wholesome than doing it at home.
