Nathaniel Rothschild Gives London Cabbies a Lift with Taxi Sharing App

NAT

Former London Mayor Ken Livingstone gave his enthusiastic support to financier Nathaniel Rothschild’s taxi sharing app, Maaxi, that, unlike competitors like Uber, is not in danger of violating city regulationsor driving cabbies out of business. Maaxi, like Uber, allows the sharing of rides, but unlike Uber, works with city taxi drivers and does not have its own fleet to compete with them, reports City AM.

Livingstone calls Maaxi “the People’s App” and will “stop Uber from driving the black cabbie trade into extinction.” Gabriel Campos, former CEO of Pokerstars, is also joining in the deal. Rothschild has gotten support from the Licensed Taxi Drivers Association, who approves of the app, which will create lower fares for customers and more business for drivers.

Maaxi will likely face intense litigation such as Uber is dealing with in many cities at it raises the ire of local cab companies and has been seen to flaunt regulations.
