Israeli MobilEye’s Technology May Drive Tesla

Mobileye

According to StreetInsider.com, Tesla seems to have added Israeli company Mobileye’s driver assist technology to its electric cars sooner than expected. Now some Model S 85 kwH cars will have Mobileye-type features such as a driver assist, which facilitates lane departure, speed assist and parking sensors. While it has not been confirmed that this technology was provided by Mobileye, Equity Partner analyst Trip Chowdhry speculates that Mobileye is the supplier. Chowdhry commented, “Within the next 3 months, Tesla is expected to include Driver Assist Features into the Model S. It seems now that Tesla has delivered Driver Assist far before (sic) than when we were expecting.”

Tesla has announced that some model S cars released in North America will have these features. MobilEye’s shares rose 7.1% on Monday and also rallied a few weeks ago when Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the company will produce cars with full self-driving systems in 3 years and that Tesla will use “sensor and components from many companies, ” as reported by SeekingAlpha.
