Lynne Abraham, the longest-serving district attorney in Philadelphia’s history, may make a bid to be the city’s next mayor, succeeding Michael Nutter. Abraham has served four terms as Philly’s DA since 1991.
Before serving as DA, she was leader of the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority. She was also a judge at the Philadelphia Municipal Court and the Court of Common Pleas. She is a partner at the legal firm Archer and Greiner.

Abraham is expected to announce her decision, if she does indeed run, in November. If elected, she will be the first woman mayor of Philadelphia. She has served on the board for the Anti-Defamation League. In 2013, she was honored as one of Philadelphia’s “top Jewish Women of Distinction.” On a lighter note (if the dish didn’t contain too much oil and eggs), Abraham has been asked to judge the best homemade kugel in the area. Other mayoral candidates who have already announced their plans to run include Terry Gillen and Ken Trujillo.
